Take a piece of work from capture to completion
Follow one action from its first description to a clear next planning decision. Use Boards to review progress, Details to explain the expected result, Backlog to decide timing and Roadmap to see the wider plan. Refine the same issue across these views without recreating it for each conversation.
Canvas menu → Project boards → Boards / Backlog / RoadmapWhat you’ll learn
- Open the right project view.
- Give an issue a clear owner and outcome.
- Verify the same record across views.

01
Open the project’s work area
Open your project, then use the canvas menu’s Project boards entry. The page has Boards, Backlog and Roadmap navigation. Check the project context before adding anything. If Boards is empty, select New board, enter a Board name and choose Create. Use a name that describes the work you will review there.
02
Capture one concrete action
Use the create control in a board column and enter a short, actionable title, such as “Check the launch checklist”. Choose Create after reviewing the text. A new issue receives its project key and the column’s status. Open the card and confirm the title and status before adding more work.
03
Make the expected result explicit
Select Details to open the full editor. Edit the title and press Enter; edit Description and use ⌘/Ctrl + Enter to save it. Describe what should be true when the action is finished. Set Assignee and Priority, then check the visible values. Reopen Description to confirm that the completion condition reads clearly.
04
Decide where the action belongs
Open Backlog to review unscheduled work alongside sprints. Find your issue by key or title. Keep it in Backlog while its timing is uncertain, or move it into an appropriate open sprint. You can also use the Sprint field in Details. Confirm the issue appears once in the destination and its Sprint value agrees.
05
Move the work through its real status
Return to Boards and move the card to the column matching its actual progress. A column move uses the project workflow, so an unavailable transition must be resolved in that workflow before the move can succeed. Open Details afterward and inspect Status. Add a brief comment when a handover or decision needs explanation.
06
Verify the result in the same browser
Close and reopen the issue from another project view, checking its key, owner and final status. Use Roadmap when you need to inspect its place in the hierarchy or schedule. Reload the project in the same browser to verify local saving. If a local-saving warning appears, keep the session open and resolve it before relying on persistence.
One clearly described issue, with a verified owner, planning position and current status across the project’s views.
